Pattaya Hill (Khao Phra Bat)

Pattaya Hill is a vantage point to get the best panoramic view of the curved bay of Pattaya either in the day or at night. On the top of the hill are situated a statue of HRH Prince of Jumborn, the father of the Royal Thai Navy and the RTN Broadcasting station (FM 104.75 MHz) as well.

Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya

This is the first and only museum in Southeast Asia that offers the greatest collection of the world’s most favorite doll. The world of the Teddy Bear here is set in different impressive atmospheres, a real good photo taking opportunity for family, and the bears are all dressed up to match with the scenes. More than 2,000 teddy bears in various sizes are on display, each fit into one of the 12 zones. For example, the Inca Zone represents the civilization of the Inca Empire and Inca culture. Tiger Topia Zoo

Pattaya Elephant Village

Pattaya Elephant Village is located at km. 145 of Sukhumwit Road. Shows are staged in which you will see elephants displaying forestry skills, playing football, and a parade of elephants decorated with ancient battle gear. The village also demonstrates how wild elephants are captured in the northeastern part of Thailand.

Art in Paradise, the first interactive art museum in Thailand, offers the newest form of interactive art presentation by allowing viewers to be more than just a viewer, but an art object themselves. Situated on Sukhumwit Road near South Pattaya, Underwater World Pattaya is only one aquarium in Pattaya city. It is a leisure attraction showcasing more than 200 species of marine life to be found around the region.

Underwater World Pattaya has gathered a lot of sea creatures with colorful coral; get it through the large clear acrylic tunnels more than 105 meters that make you see sea creatures all around you 180 degrees as you dive deep into the sea.

In the tunnels, there are 3 zones - Coral Reef Zone, Shark and Stingray Zone and Giant of Siam Zone. Moreover, there is Jellyfish Zone, the biggest collection and display of jellyfish in Thailand. The surrounding area is also decorated with shores, sandy beaches and rocky rapids, similar to a retreat on a private island. There are also many other animals to enjoy such as Otter, they came from Indonesia, reptile zones from around the world, etc.

The Underwater World Pattaya is one that is family friendly and offers a glimpse of the nearby underwater world of Thailand without the need to get wet.

Wat Yannasangwararam

A temple under H.M. the King's patronage is unique for its modern Thai architecture. Located at km. 160 of Sukhumwit Road, 20 km. to the south of Pattaya, the park-like temple is vast, scenic and tranquil. It consists of a pagoda containing the Buddha's relics and several beautiful buildings built in international architectural styles such as Chinese, Indian, Swiss, etc.

Situated in the vicinity of the temple to be dedicated to H.M. the King in 1987 is Wihan Sian (Anekkuson Sala), an epitome of the harmonious blend of Buddhist beliefs, Taoism and Confucianism. Collections of priceless antiques and works of art from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong are on display here.

Among others, Wihan Sian boasts the hard-to-be-seen writing-brush calligraphy of Prince Pu Jie (Emperor Pu Yi's younger brother), on the signboard of the building, which reads "Dan Fu Yuan", the Chinese name of Wihan Sian.

Khao Chichan's Engraved Buddha Image

The line-etched Buddha image on the cliff of Khao (Mount) Chichan is not only a Buddhist sacred object but also the largest effigy of its kind. Foreign tourists who see it will be amazed by such a magnitude scale.

The image was christened "Phra Phuttha Maha Wachira Uttamophat Satsada" by H.M. King Bhumibol. The name means "the Buddha is the prophet who enlightens and shines like a diamond."

Background

The effigy's engraving was conceived by Somdet Phra Yannasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch, in 1984. It was created to be presented to H.M. King Bhumibol as the Buddha image of his reign and to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne in 1996.

Characteristics

This Buddha image in the maravijaya position is 130 metres high (from the base to the topknot) and 70 metres wide (from knee to knee). The art style is the mixture of Sukhothai and Lanna arts. Inside the Buddha image, relics of the Buddha are enshrined.

Pattaya Floating Market: The Latest Cultural Conservation Centre in Pattaya

Location : Sukhumvit Road (To Sattahip)

Pattaya Floating Market is the world’s largest floating market located on an area of about 100,000 sq m on the outskirt of Pattaya. It is divided into four parts representing the cultural heritage of the four regions of Thailand. Scattered on the fresh water swamp are islands of various sizes and many Thai style teakwood houses linked together with wooden bridges.

Every day over 80 paddle boats are ready to take visitors on tour to see Thai style architecture, traditional ways of life and waterborne vendors paddling their boats selling freshly cooked food. There are restaurants and more than 100 boutique shops offering handicrafts and souvenirs from all over the country. Exquisitely carved image of Ganesh, the Hindu god with an elephant head and some rare pieces of carved wood are exhibited at The Woodcarving Museum. Thai cultural shows, martial art demonstrations such as the water boxing, and many activities are also performed daily.

The Greater Pattaya: The City Full of Diversions

Pattaya City is a special administrative district, located within the area of Chon Buri Province. It is regarded as a world-renown beach resort that is the best value for your money. In the past decade, many people viewed Pattaya as a place for exotic nightlife. That might be true. But now a general public perception of Pattaya has been changing as what the city really offers is far beyond beaches and entertainment.  The Greater Pattaya has adapted to suit the present situation by offering a wide diversity of tourist attractions to be a place for everyone. No matter what you are opt for--beaches, accommodations, international cuisines, shopping malls or a water park, Pattaya has them all. The Most Famous Beach Resort on the East

Pattaya is 147 km. southeast of Bangkok and adjoins the Gulf of Thailand. It is Thailand's premier and most successful beach resort which annually attracts hundreds of thousands of pleasure-seeking visitors from all over the world.

Being close to the sea, the adjoining beaches of Pattaya City, from Naklua Bay to Wong Phrachan (Crescent Moon) and Wong Amat beaches in the north down to Jomtien and Na Jomtien beaches in the south, cover a total length of about 20 km. In the past, only the area of Pattaya Bay known as Pattaya beach played an important role in the tourism aspect. But for now, the increasing popularity of tourism in Pattaya has made all of its adjacent beaches so lively as well.

For the past centuries, Pattaya was a small fishing village almost cut off from the outside world. But after its beauty was discovered by the first group of American servicemen from Nakhon Ratchasima in 1961, the sleepy Pattaya gradually became a famous beach resort. Fishermen's huts along the beach were replaced by a full range of accommodations from super deluxe hotels to bungalows and mini-pocket guesthouses. And the quiet powdery golden beaches are frequented by swimmers and sunbathers from various parts of the world.

Moreover, with the recent establishment of the industrial estates of Laem Chabang to the north and that of Map Ta Phut to the south, Pattaya has been developing to be a major business centre and pleasing residence for western expatriates.

The Place for All Tastes

For sun lovers and water-sports fans, Pattaya's sunny climate provides ideal conditions for swimming and all other imaginable water activities, including jet-skiing, boat sailing, speed-boating, water-scooter riding, water skiing, parasailing, scuba diving and windsurfing.

For those who do not want to get drenched, Pattaya also has gyms and health clubs for exercise and many kinds of land sports and games to choose from, such as shooting, car racing, horse riding, archery, golf, bowling, tennis, go-kart, paintball, etc.

For shoppers, fashionable boutiques and shops of ready-made garments, silk, paintings, handicrafts, gemstones, jewellery and trinkets are centred in the main streets of Central and South Pattaya and also in the luxurious hotels. And the prices are fair.

For gourmets, Pattaya's cookeries offer at reasonable prices a wide range of superlative fresh seafood and various styles of cuisine -- Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, Italian, German, Scandinavian, Mexican, American, Indian, Russian, etc. And for night owls, Pattaya's lively nightlife caters for every taste. Wong Amat Beach Wong Amat beach is recommended for those who are seeking for a nice place to relax and sunbathe, since it is one of the cleanest and most secluded beaches in Pattaya. The beach is adjoining to the north of Pattaya beach.

Pattaya Beach

Pattaya Beach is divided into the north, central and south zones. Starting from Dusit Resort Hotel in the area called North Pattaya to the small hill in the South, Pattaya beach and its parallel beach road is about 3 kilometres long. Apart from swimming and sunbathing, the beach also offers excellent facilities for watersports enthusiasts of all kinds.

North Pattaya features several kinds of beachfront accommodations, entertainment complexes and restaurants. The 2nd Pattaya Road in North Pattaya highlights Tiffany Show, Alcazar Cabaret and Central Festival Department Store.  Central Pattaya offers many medium-sized hotels, beer bars, a-go-go bars, clothing shops and shopping complexes such as Royal Garden Plaza and Mike Shopping Mall.

South Pattaya, the most bustling area, is also called Walking Street as it is closed for traffic from 19.00 to midnight. The street is crowded with numerous shops ranging from tailor shops, clothing shops, sport equipment shops, jewellery shops and souvenir shops. Bars are densely located here along with restaurants close to the beach.

Dong Tan Beach Adjacent to Jomtien Beach (to the north), the quiet 1-km-long Dong Tan Beach is situated. The plants found here are tropical almonds.

Jomtien Beach

The former paddy fields have turned into a thriving beach. Only 3 km. down Pattaya Beach, Jomtien is highly recommended to those who seek a quieter resort, where the golden sand, bright sun and clear blue sea are always pleased to welcome all vacationers.
