Here comes the hot season! Do you have any plan for spending your holiday in this cheerful sunny season? If not, let Thaiways introduce some interesting destinations to you. Talking of the hot season, of course, most people will think of breezy beaches and the clear blue sea. And seas and beaches in Thailand are known to be among the most beautiful in the world.
Apart from the popular Hua Hin, Pattaya, Samui, Krabi and Phuket, there are many other charming destinations in various coastal provinces as follows.

1. Rayong: 179 km east of Bangkok
Rayong is a province on the eastern seaboard just to the east of Pattaya. Among the numerous fine beaches in the province, the best known are those on Samet Island, which is a part of Khao Laemya-Muko Samet National Park. The place is tranquil, the climate is mild and the scenery is beautiful.

Another national park called Khao Chamao is where there are many kinds of trees and decorative plants and an 8-leap waterfall. A little way to the east is Khao Wong Cave which comprises about 60 large and small connecting chambers all with fantastic stalactites and stalagmites.


Laem Mae Phim Beach

Other places of tourist interest include: Wang Kaeo Park, which is beautifully landscaped on a hill overlooking the sea; Sopha Botanical Gardens with three 100-year-old traditional Thai houses; Kon Ao Beach which is being developed into another national park; Ko Man Islands, one of which is used in HM Queen Sirikit's project to preserve sea turtles; and beautiful beaches such as Suan Son Pine Park, Mae Phim Cape, Mae Ramphueng Beach and so on.


2. Chanthaburi: 245 km east of Bangkok
Chanthaburi is adjacent to Rayong on the west. It is famous not only for its gemstones and fruits but also several beautiful beaches. Laem Sadet Beach offers you a scenic view and is suitable for camping. The serene Chao Lao Beach is another destination for holiday makers. Glass-bottom boat services are available to take you to admire its coastal coral reefs. Khao Laem Sing Forest Park is home to large varieties of plants and animals. The forest park has several beaches: Laem Sing Beach is shady with pine trees lining the shore. You will enjoy doing beach activities and be under a spell of the romantic view of the sunset. Here, you can hire a boat to go snorkelling around Chula and Nomsao islands. Nature lovers like you can go camping at Ao Krathing Beach which is peaceful. Ao Yang Beach is near Ao Krathing and is no less beautiful. Golden sand Khung Wiman Beach beach is excellent for relaxation and beach activities. The recommended period is from November to May.


3. Trat: 315 km east of Bangkok
Trat, the easternmost province on the eastern coast of Thailand, boasts beautiful beaches and coral formations as follows. Chang Islands Marine National Park is the most famous attractions of Trat. Its main island, Chang Island, is the second largest island in Thailand.

The park consists of more than 40 islands surrounded by crystal clear sea and a colourful underwater world. There are several dive locations such as Chang Noi Island, Man Nok Island, Yuak Island, Lao Ya Island and also the Sea Battle Site on the southern coast of the island in Salak Phet Bay.

Main attractions of the park which are situated on Chang Island include: Khlong Phrao Beach, Sai Khao Beach, Chaiyachet Headland, Kai Bae Beach, Wai Island and Bangbao Fisherman Village. Apart from these attractions, Trat boasts many other magnificent beaches such as Ban Chuen Beach, Muk Kaeo Beach and Sai Kaeo Beach.

4. Chumphon: 463 km south of Bangkok
Chumphon is a province possessing more than 200 km of coastline. It is a large supplier of best-quality bird's nests of Thailand. Its interesting attractions are as follows.

Hat Sai Ri is a popular beach where a memorial statue of HRH Prince of Jumborn, the father of the Royal Thai Navy, is situated. Pha Daeng Beach is outstanding with a 10-metre red cliff eroded by wind and sea.


Thung Makham Nai Beach

Thung Makham Bay boasts an ivory tranquil beach, lining with coconut trees. Chorakhe Island has a magnificent underwater world. Ngam Yai Island and Langka Chiu Island are where bird's nests are harvested.

Going snorkelling at Mattra and Thong Lang islands may add colour to your programme. And you will love Thung Wua Laen Beach, a long white sandy beach, if you like swimming. Tham Thong - Bang Boet Beach offers you a 5-km picturesque beach. Ao Yai Ai Beach features a vantage point of 25 metres above sea level and highlights a 7- km coral reef.

Thalu Island
is a small limestone island with a natural arch. Sea anemones and coral reefs thrive abundantly here. Other interesting points are Tawan Chai Beach, Maphrao Island and Lawa Island.

5. Trang: 828 km south of Bangkok
Trang is a southern province located on the Andaman Sea of the Indian Ocean. It has about 46 picturesque islands, and it proudly presents to you many beautiful tourist attractions. Among them, Hat Chao Mai National Park is the most popular destination.


Pak Meng Beach

Sunbathing lovers may go to Pak Meng, Chang Lang, San, Yao, Yong Ling or Chao Mai beaches which can be easily accessed by car. The star of the park is Muk Island where the well-known Morakot Cave is situated.

Rowing a boat, or swimming, in darkness through the 80-metre winding waterway to the mouth of the cave, you will be stunned by the breathtaking scene of the emerald-coloured water and the delicate, white sandy beach located between steep cliffs.


Kradan Island

Other attractions of the park are Kradan, Chueak and Waen islands where you can admire the beautiful coral reefs and schools of colourful fishes. Apart from the national park, Trang's attractions include Libong Island which is home to dugong, Tup Beach, Thuat Cape, To Chai Cape and Sukon Island.

6. Satun: 973 km south of Bangkok
Satun, a small southernmost province of Thailand on the Andaman Sea bordering Malaysia, has many interesting attractions. Among them, Tarutao Islands Marine National Park is the best known. Tarutao Island is the biggest island of the group. There, you will be fascinated by many beautiful bays such as Hin Ngam Bay and Ta Lo U-Dang Bay. At the beaches of Phante Malaka Bay, Mo Lae Bay and especially Son Bay, you can also camp on the beach and dive in the crystal blue sea. Adang-Rawi Islands, situated 40 km away to the west of Tarutao Island, are crowded with coral reefs. To admire the beauty of the world under the sea, you may go diving at Cha Bang Island, Ta Lo Ri Pa Bay, or at the southern coast of Rawi Island.

Besides Tarutao National Park, Satun boasts many more natural attractions such as Phetra National Park, Thale Ban National Park, Sarai Islands and Tanyong Po Cape.
