 King Meng Rai Festival (Late Jan - eary Feb 2008)
This festival, consisting of spectacular parades, cultural performances and competition, is held to celebrate the establishment of Chiang Rai and the Lanna Kingdom. There will be also a great deal of food stalls and shops selling other products such as house decorative items.

 Songkran Festival The traditional Thai New Year (13 - 15 Apr 2008)
The Thais celebrate this joyous festival throughout the country, including Chiang Rai. Apart from parades, decorated floats and beauty contests, which are guaranteed to impress you, there are also boat races among 4 countries--Thailand, Laos, China and Myanmar, waiting for you to see on the Mekong River in Chiang Saen County.

 Lychee Fair (In May 2008)
Chiang Rai is famous for its tasty lychees. Therefore, this fair is the ideal opportunity to enjoy this fruit. And certainly, you can buy as many as you would like at very reasonable prices. Of course, local entertainment and beauty contests will be performed to add colour to the fair. Many beautiful handicrafts are also available for purchase.

 Loi Krathong Festival (12 Nov 2008)

Little vessels made from banana leaf with lit candles and joss sticks are floated on water as a thanksgiving and worship to the Goddess of Water.Thai people celebrate this festival boisterously and Chiang Rai is a place that holds this festival on a grand scale. A beauty contest and folk entertainment are featured. Local handicrafts and food are available at stalls during the festival.


 Tribal Culture & Mexican Sunflower blossom (1 Nov - 15 Dec 2008)

Mexican Sunflower fields on the mountain are in the full bloom season. It brings the magnificent picturesque to Doi Hua Mae Kham, Mae Fah Suai District, Chiang Rai. In addition, there are tribal culture demonstrations on the natural stage, as well as tribal sport competition, tea tasting, tribal food, and traditional Northern dinner.
