Being the main tourist attraction of the North,
Chiang Mai has much more accommodations than other
regional cities. In Chiang Mai town only, there
are about 300 hotels and guesthouses, with the rates
ranging widely from 200 baht for a simple room with
fan to over 10,000 baht for a luxurious suite. Several
areas in town which abound with guesthouses and
mid-range hotels are -- along Charoen Prathet Road
west of the Ping River; along Charoen Rat Road,
parallel to Charoen Prathet; along several sois
off Tha Phae Road and along Huai Kaeo Road. Others
are scattered along the roads near the town centre.
There are also a lot of three- and four-star hotels
in Chiang Mai, several of which are along Huai Kaeo
and Chang Khlan roads. Generally, the hotel facilities
include restaurants, coffee shops, swimming pool
and fitness centre.
Hotels and resorts can be
found in all tourist destinations, especially in
more popular places like the Mae Rim-Mae Sa area
and Fang-Tha Ton area in the North and the Hang
Dong area in the South. Most of them are located
amid beautiful scenic settings with well-decorated
gardens.
