Most top international hotel chains and notable local chains can be found
in Bangkok. Prices start at around 2,500 baht for a standard room and go
up to over 10,000 baht for a suite. Many hotels of this type are located
on the banks of the Chao Phraya River and major business and shopping areas,
that is,
1) Siam Square & Phloenchit
2) Silom, Surawong & Sathon
3) Sukhumwit
4) Ratchadaphisek
Accommodations of this category are the most abundant in Bangkok.The room
rates are from about 600 to 2,000 baht per night. Mid-range hotels are quite
easily found in Bangkok downtown like Silom, Surawong, Sukhumwit, Phloenchit
and Ratchadaphisek. Most of them provide basic hotel amenities as well as
restaurants.
Bangkok has the best and most varied budget
places to stay in among all capitals in Asia. Although you can find guesthouses
or budget hotels scattered all over the city, two main areas which offer
the largest number of choices at the lower rates are Banglamphu (Khaosan
Road) and Soi Ngam Duphli (off Rama IV Road).
Generally, rates in the Banglamphu area are the lowest in Bangkok. Single
rooms with just bed, fan and shared toilets range from 100 to 250 baht.
Rooms with air-conditioning cost from 250 to 600 baht. As Khaosan Road is
already packed with accommodations, more and more guesthouses have been
springing up in other lanes and alleys in the Banglamphu area which are
more quiet. Wherever you stay, it is advisable that you have a look around
before checking in, to make sure the room is clean and the fan and lights
work.
As for those who want to escape from the crowded places of Khaosan, there
are also some low-rate accommodations, including hostels, available in
Sukhumvit for your alternative. The hostel in Sukhumvit offers small and
large dorms, as well as twin, family, single and double ensuite rooms,
equipped with all standard amenities. Those who want to explore Bangkok
will enjoy staying here as it provides easy access to all kinds of public
transport, including the BTS Skytrain and the Metro.
